Developer asks views on 500 House Plan for Whittlesey

Larkfleet Homes is seeking the public’s views on proposals for a new community at Bassenhally Farm between Eastrea Road and Drybread Road in Whittlesey.

The proposed development will include around 500 houses, new shops, public open space, playing fields and other amenities. There will also be a 70-bed nursing home, a 50-bed ‘extra care hub’ and 15 close care bungalows.

The developers are holding a public exhibition of the proposed plans from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday 28th July at the Whittlesey Ivy Leaf Club in Gracious Street, Whittlesey. Members of the development team will be at the exhibition to explain what is proposed and to hear the views of local people.

Planning director Richard Edwards said: “We are keen to get the opinion of Whittlesey residents on this expansion of the town. It will be the largest single development in Whittlesey for many years and we want to make sure we get it right. “We will consider all the comments made at the exhibition and the comments that we receive from the public generally. Only then will we prepare final plans that will be submitted to the council for planning permission.”

An outline of the proposals is contained in a newsletter produced by the company which will be available at the exhibition. People who are not able to attend the exhibition can obtain a copy of the newsletter by calling Richard Edwards on 01778 391550 or emailing richard.edwards@larkfleethomes.co.uk
